The concept of auto relocation is not a new concept. For a long time people have using this idea while transporting cargo or automobiles. In fact this was the only mode used by people to transport vehicles other than strong incidents when people resorted to self driving the vehicle when relocated.
It has also been in use by automobile dealers to transport new vehicles to the dealership. Nowadays it is a common practice to transport vehicles to the new destination when one is relocated whether within the state or across the state and even overseas.
In state to state relocation, vehicles can be in three ways. Your car or truck can be loaded on an open trailer, just as new cars are hauled. The vehicles can be transported in enclosed container type trailer. One can self drive the vehicle and engage a driver to drive your vehicle to the new destination. Each of these modes has its own advantage or disadvantages.
If the transportation is locally for a short distance. The best option would apparently be self driving it. There are no hassles involved as distance travelled is less and the cost involved would also be less.
If the transportation is within the state, for a larger distance or across the state or overseas, then one has to resort to auto transportation mode, for various obvious reasons.
Each mode of transportation by the auto transport company, whether open trailer mode or enclosed container type trailer mode is suitable, but comes with a price tag. So keep your budget in mind and also the type of vehicle you own and decide the mode which meets your requirements and suits your budget.
